Aloha Gang, well since I already put in one of my plays for this week. I decided to post it, as some may want to also play such a type of bet. I also feel this is the best time to lock it in before the lines moves anymore. My Playoff Record so far is 9W-5L= +17 Units.

In last weeks games, I played a total of 4 Teasers, and the results of them were 3W-1L= +7 Units. But since I only posted 3 of them, and didnt post the other which was with Indy & GB. I will go by the posted playoff Teaser record of 2W-1L= +2 Units. The only lost was the teaser with the Rams E w/ that knuckle head Martz, who cost me and his team the win. But thats old news so enough with that.

I am playing teasers along with straight bets this week again, because, like last week, I am not feeling to confident in the spreads either way in these games. Last week I had similar feelings, and someone mentioned to me in my thread about why would I give the Books the unneccessary advantage in terms of the extra vig by teasing the teams. It was stated that the spread has really no affect on the outcome, as the winning team also covered the spread 82% of the time. So just by picking the team I see winning the game outright, I have an 82% chance of covering as well.

Well guys for me 82% is not good enough. And as you can see from last weeks games only two teams which won outright, covered the spread as well. Unfortunately, my two ATS losses came with StLouis and NE who I felt would at least win outright. So they are a perfect example of not being so reliant on past historical Trends. These past trends success do not factor in my decision to play these Teasers. I totally believe in not relying so much on the past, unless it happened during the regular season and not in any playoff games. Still, even then I dont let it be my deciding reasons for my plays. But hey, thats just me.

I like Teasers and I like being able to have somewhat of a control in what I see is to much or to little when it comes to the spread between two teams. I also enjoy the insurance so to speak with the extra points, they provide. I think that the way things have been going in the playoffs. Along with the remaining Head Coaches of ALL the four teams being of a Defensive minded nature. It makes me feel that any points, especially in the Double Digits is alot of cushion for me to make a play with this Teaser. So without further adew here is my first Teaser play for Conference Championship Games.

7 Unit 7pt Teaser Playoff Play of the Week w/ :(WINNER)

INDY +10.5(W by .5pt) & CAROLINA +11(W)

-To me, these look very good at covering in the event the home teams win outright. I would like to mention though that this Teaser, may or may not reflect who I will eventually decided to play straight up. I am still watching the lines and info. on the games and will post all my side plays and any other Teasers plays, later in this thread. Check back to see my updates and additions. Aloha CC.

FYI: as of this time 7:08 a.m. EST. BetRoyal still has the line at Indy +3.5 and Carolina +4. I havent seen the other 3 places I use as well, listing the Colts at +3.5, all were at +3 for the Colts. As for Carolina, all places had them at +4. GL and Aloha CC.

-Also, in case you may be wondering, this teaser is a NoAction if any teams ties the spread. I am also playing this Teaser at -130. Aloha Again CC.

CO CAP

NICE TEASE AND I AGREE

both head coaches- bellicheck and reid (without westbrook) are both conservative off playcalling coaches. they also play field position.

another tease could be pats+3(the key here) and philly+2

w/ maybe 1/4 bet on both moneylines on the dogs

trying to win 2out of 3 or break even

i like your teaser better however

goodluck

DE NIRO, glad to hear you agree. But just like I expected, the Indy line dropped to +3 at BetRoyal. So you will have to shop around to get the 3.5, that way with the 7pts you get it at +10.5. Unless that extra .5pt you feel wont be needed. GL and Aloha CC.

CC: I like playing teasers also and have been very effective with them. I went very heavy on Sixth Sense's 4* play on Over 42 in the GB/Phil game and the 6 points and the 10 points in my 2 teasers made the difference between winning and losing. Anyway I don't think you are doing the right thing in laying -130 for 7 points. I play 6 point teasers with NO vig. Is the extra 1 point worth an additional 30% in vig. I don't think so.

ESQAJM, thanks for sharing your opinion. Well to answer your question of whether I think the extra point is worth it. I think by looking at the point spread difference of adding 6pts to make the Colts +9.5 and the Panthers +10. Compared to adding 7pts making the Colts +10.5 and the Panthers +11. Look at the difference that one point made. To me using the 7pt teaser gives me a bit more of an advantage and much more insurance than if I used 6pts. So to answer your question, yes I do think it is worth it. Good Luck, CC.

ESQAJM - Damn, I wish I would have teased that damn total. Or GB could have just scored on their fourth and goal in the first half and everything would have probably been all right, especially seeing I also had GB over 18.5 for the game.

Co-Cap - I'm on both favorites but there is plenty of room for both of us here with your teasers in play.

Interesting and I guess I haven't thought about it enough and used to tease games where the home dog was getting more than seven points so you could tease them to anything above +14. That has been a solid play for years and years. But, having said that, and considering the average spread cover is a little over 10 points, going back to 1983, it makes me wonder if teasers are worth it. I would have to look at it in more detail, esepcially around some key numbers, etc. Just food for thought. And, keep in mind, I'm not saying they aren't worth it and have played them in the past, just wondering, considering the numbers I just threw out.

Aloha Six, thanks for your insight. This years playoffs I felt was going to somehow shake all them past trends up. I couldnt get a comfortable feeling last week on Sat., but I still follow the home team trend. I got my ass kicked, so on Sunday, I capped the games again but this time I found enough to give me confidence with going with my earlier feelings about this year playoffs are going to go opposite the past years trends. Thus, I went undefeated on Sunday.

I am aware of past trends and numbers, but I am more of a believer that given the right situation and right coaches, and any teams can go opposite of the past trends. Last week, was just a taste of this. All the dogs covered, two won outright. But all of the dogs had a chance to win outright. I never thought this would happen, but it almost did. I wonder if you had any numbers showing that this kind of scenerio has happened in the past.

Believe it or not, but this week, I also like the home favorites to get it done. But these home favs do not give me the confident feelings I like to get. One, is because they are both facing Offenses that are simply on fire in my oppinion. Also, the visitor to me seems alot more motivated, or at least they have alot more spring in their step then both home teams. This also gets me concerned a bit. Bottom line is that last weeks playoff games caused alot of controversies to the norm , and I cant at this time see any less than that type of occurrances of last week not happening today as well. Hence my Teaser plays. Now with the weather in both games playing more of a factor in the outcome as expected, playing Teasers may turn out to be the safer bet. IMO. GL and Aloha CC.

Co-cap,

You my friend need to get an account at Skybook. I have 5-7 books at any one time and this is always my favorite, especially for football. Free half points and awesome teaser rules. For example your 7 point teaser would be at -125 and ties win. Right now you could have the colts +10, pats +4, eagles +3 or panthers +11. And like I said, ties WIN. Not sure what happens if both games tie, I think it is no action... hasn't happened to me yet.

Adding: Teaser Play #3

4 Unit 7pt Teaser Play w/:(LOSE)

Carolina +11 (W) & Over 29(L)

-I feel that the Eagles will somehow win this game in the end, but it will be close. The points with Carolina is to much for me to ignore, especially with that defenses front and that Offensive ground game. I will be back later. GL and Aloha CC.

Aloha Omaha, and thankyou very much for the info. I will definately look into Skybook. I hadnt had the time nor the info of who gave the best when it came to teasers. Most places I looked had one benefit the other places didnt and vice versa. Plus I wasnt sure whose advice I could trust. So your sharing this info with me is greatly appreciated my friend. Thanks alot for it, and GL to you today. Aloha CC.

Adding:

4 Unit Play on:

NE -3 (WINNER)

-Well, in this game, I simply have to side with QB Brady as he has proven to be to strong at home. This year he has achieved a 9-0 record at home, but more impressive is that he has thrown 282 passes without an interception. This is simply IMPRESSIVE! With this type of stats and with this game being played in the elements, I have to go with the QB who knows how to play better in the elements, as well as, the one who has proven can win in the elements.

Brady's remarkable stats at home this year, provides Belichick more time to mastermind his Defensive strategy to shut down Peyton and the Colts high flying Offenses. Belichick is simply to good, and he has the players on Def to accomplish his gameplan. Although I as well respect Coach Dungy and his Defensive mind, I cannot say the same in way of the personal that the Colts have on Defense to make his Defensive strategies work to perfection. This provides to Big of an advantage on NE's side. Brady and Belichick get this done by a TD today. GL to everyone today and Aloha CC.
